Solflare has a "Forgot your password?" link, and it's tempting to click it. Before you do, know what it does: it logs you out and asks for your recovery phrase. If you have the phrase, that's fine. If you don't, clicking it can throw away the one thing that might still get you back in. This guide covers how Solflare's password works, what you can safely try yourself, and what to do when that runs out.
This guide covers a forgotten password on a Solflare wallet you still have installed. If you've lost your recovery phrase, read our Solflare recovery phrase guide instead.
We recover crypto wallets for a living, so we'll tell you what's realistic.
How Solflare stores your keys and password
Solflare is non-custodial. Your recovery phrase and keys live on your device, encrypted with your password, and Solflare keeps no copy. Solflare's support team says plainly that it can't recover your seed phrase or reset your password.
Solflare's official "Forgot your password?" flow logs you out and has you re-import the wallet from your recovery phrase. Without the phrase, that flow leaves you with nothing. The encrypted wallet still on your device is a separate way in: your password alone protects it, and specialists can work on it offline. If you've lost your phrase, don't use the "Forgot your password?" flow until you've read the rest of this guide.

If you turned on Quick Login
Solflare offers an optional feature called Quick Login. When you turn it on, a 6-digit passcode replaces your password on every device, and Solflare keeps an encrypted cloud backup of your recovery phrase. The key to that backup is split three ways: one part on your device, one in your Google Drive or iCloud, and one with Solflare. Any two parts can rebuild it. If you use Quick Login and can't remember your passcode, follow Solflare's Quick Login recovery steps first. Solflare says that if you lose both your Google or Apple account and your passcode, it can't recover the wallet. The offline recovery described below applies to a wallet protected by a regular password.
Password or recovery phrase: which problem do you have?
- You have your recovery phrase. Skip password recovery. Re-import the phrase into Solflare and set a new password.
- You've lost the phrase and can't get past the password. The encrypted wallet and offline recovery are your route.
- You've lost the phrase and Solflare isn't installed anywhere. There's usually no way back. We cover that below.
Before you start: what you need
- The device or browser where Solflare is still installed. The encrypted wallet lives there. Don't log out, uninstall the extension, or clear the browser's data.
- Your best password guesses: passwords you reuse, old variations, notes from setup.
- Your password manager and browser autofill. Check these first.
You won't need your recovery phrase for any of this. Password recovery works on the encrypted wallet.
DIY recovery, step by step
1. Search your saved passwords
Look in your password manager, browser autofill, and notes for "Solflare," "Solana," or "wallet."
2. Confirm the encrypted wallet is still there
If Solflare opens to a password prompt, the encrypted wallet is on that device. Recovery works from that file.
3. List your password building blocks
Write down the base words you reuse, the numbers and symbols you add, how you capitalize, and the passwords you were using when you installed Solflare. Note every variation you can think of.
4. Organize them into a testing plan
Put those pieces into a structured list of words and the patterns you combine them with. Most forgotten passwords follow your usual habits with one detail you can't recall, and a methodical list finds that detail far more often than guessing does.
When DIY isn't enough: professional recovery
If you still have the encrypted Solflare wallet and the password won't come back, this is the work we do. Crypto Asset Recovery uses secure, offline password cracking to recover access to encrypted Solflare wallets. You send us the encrypted wallet and your list of candidates. We run the cracking on offline, air-gapped machines, so your keys are never exposed online.
You only pay if we succeed. Completely risk-free.
Tell us as much as you can about how you build passwords and when you set up the wallet; each detail improves the odds. If you'd rather not share every password you use, give us close variants or only the ones you think matter. That lowers the odds somewhat, and the choice is yours.
When recovery is not possible
If you have no recovery phrase and no encrypted wallet (Solflare isn't installed anywhere and you kept no backup), there's nothing left to recover from, and the funds are very likely gone. Self-custody has no master key.

Frequently asked questions
Can I reset my Solflare password? Only with your recovery phrase. Solflare's "Forgot your password?" flow logs you out and re-imports the wallet from the phrase, and no reset works without it. If you've lost the phrase, you may still be able to recover the password from the encrypted wallet, so don't log out first.
Can Solflare recover my password for me? No. Solflare is non-custodial, so it stores no password and can't reset it or give you your recovery phrase.
How long does recovery take? Anywhere from about 20 to 30 minutes to, in our longest case, over two years. Most of that time is passive. You send us your encrypted wallet and your best password guesses, we run the recovery on our own machines, and we come back to you for fresh guesses each time we finish a batch. Once we've looked at your case, we'll give you a straight read on your odds.
Is it safe to send you my wallet file? Yes. Crypto Asset Recovery is a registered company in New Hampshire, run by a public father-and-son team, Chris and Charles. We work only from your encrypted wallet file and your password guesses, and neither can move your funds. Most people's real worry is whether a recovery service is a scam. We operate in the open, and misusing a client's wallet would land us in court fast.
My Solflare wallet looks empty. Is that a password problem? Probably not. If you imported your recovery phrase on a different derivation path, your funds may sit on another address. Check the alternate path in Solflare's import options before you assume a lockout or a loss.
